Speakers Series: Dr. Karl Seidman – “Disaster Recovery in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina”

Dr. Karl Seidman, Senior Lecturer, Economic Development, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Urban Studies and Planning – “Disaster Recovery in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina”

Dr. Karl Seidman will discuss his work assisting communities throughout New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, including the role of MIT in providing targeted aid through a number of university initiatives. Dr. Seidman is a Senior Lecturer in Economic Development at the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning. He wrote the text Coming Home to New Orleans: Neighborhood Rebuilding After Katrina. In addition, he worked extensively with a number of communities in New Orleans post-Katrina to assist them recover from the state’s worst disaster in its history.
