Speakers Series: Dr. Michael Rumsewicz – “International Research Linking Knowledge to Action”

Dr. Michael Rumsewicz will discuss his role as the Research Director of the Natural Hazards and Bushfire Research Centre in Australia to include their emphasis on applied work. He will also discuss linkage of their Centre and greater Australia with the UNC-based Coastal Resilience Center of Excellence to include the emerging international learning lab concept – providing a means for researchers, students and practitioners to engage in research, education and practice-based endeavors that strive the draw and share lessons.
Dr. Rumsewicz joined the Bushfire & Natural Hazards CRC as Research Manager in September 2013 and in January 2016 was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Australian Journal of Emergency Management. Michael Rumsewicz’s studies were undertaken at the University of Adelaide where he graduated with a first class honours degree in Applied Mathematics in 1984 and was awarded his PhD in 1989.
