“Gubernatorial Leadership in the Face of Disaster,” a talk by former N.C. Gov. James B. Hunt

Former Governor Jim Hunt will give a lecture on “Gubernatorial Leadership in the Face of Disaster” as part of CRC partner Dr. Gavin Smith’s “Survey of Natural Hazards and Disasters” seminar course.
Governor Hunt, who was governor of North Carolina during hurricanes Fran (1996) and Floyd (1999), will discuss the role of gubernatorial leadership in disasters, including some of the actions he undertook to procure federal assistance; push for the creation of state programs to address unmet needs; and the importance of serving as an advocate for the state’s citizens in times of crisis.
The event is open to the public.
