RISE Conference 2019: Transforming University Engagement In Pre- and Post-Disaster Environments: Lessons from Puerto Rico

CRC is a co-sponsor for RISE Conference 2019: Transforming University Engagement In Pre- and Post-Disaster Environments: Lessons from Puerto Rico. The event, hosted by University at Albany – State University of New York, features three panels of CRC personnel discussing their research:
– Nov. 18: Dr. Phil Berke of UNC-Chapel Hill will be part of the panel “Disaster Planning and Response Integrating Universities with Existing Disaster Planning and Response Frameworks and Doctrines.”
– Nov. 18: Dr. Rick Luettich of UNC-Chapel Hill (CRC Lead PI), will be part of the panel “Weather Extremes Prediction Today’s Challenges & the Need to Transition to User-driven Adaptive Modeling for Emergency Management.”
– Nov. 18: CRC-supported UNC-Chapel Hill lecturer Shaleen Miller will be part of the panel “Peer to Peer Collaborating With Colleagues in Extreme Operating Environments (EOEs).”
– Nov. 19: CRC Executive Director Tom Richardson will moderate the panel “University Partnership R&D, Education & Engagement Tapping the Potential of Universities to Develop the Next Generation of Disaster Professionals, Knowledge Creation, Campus Resilience Building and Community Service.” The panel will include Miller and CRC partner Prof. Ismael Pagán-Trinidad of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
